Theme
What epistemic and ontological consequences arise when artificialization, algorithmic architectures, and abstraction-based systems emerge not as instruments but as co-authors of cultural production? In what ways do evolving software paradigms and soft-technologies reconfigure the semiotics, materialities, and economic infrastructures of aesthetic exploration? Can the very grammar of art—its conceptual bodies, frameworks, perceptual strategies, and modes of valuation—be re-imagined in dialogue with computational logics and language shifts?

This call seeks essays that engage with these questions through critical inquiry, theoretical articulation, or experimental analysis. Submissions should explore how the intersection of language, algorithmic processes, and experimental aesthetic productions generate new cultural epistemologies. We are particularly interested in contributions that interrogate how AI-driven and software-based practices redefine aesthetic methodologies, artistic materiality, and the political economy of contemporary art.

Eligibility
Open to artists, theorists, scholars, technologists, and interdisciplinary practitioners exploring the critical and cultural implications of AI and software.
The comissioned piece will be published on bianjie.systems with full credit and permanent URL. Authors will retain copyright and will be free to republish elsewhere after initial release, with acknowledgement of original comission.

The selected contributor will receive a €250 honorarium, and their work will be published alongside projects from our extended network. The residency includes light editorial dialogue with the collective, but is non-time-intensive by design.

Language
English preferred; multilingual submissions are welcome with translation notes.
